What We Teach
Curriculum
Forms
Also known as Poomsae: choreographed routines of Taekwondo technique. Students learn one or two new forms per belt rank. We currently use the Pal Gwe series, with the Tae Geuk series being introduced.
Techniques
Basic technique from day one. As belt level increases, more difficult punches, blocks and kicks are introduced.
Sparring
No-contact or light-contact, in a safe, class-appropriate manner, combining technique while learning to avoid being struck.
Self-Defense
Avoiding confrontation is always the first lesson. When it’s unavoidable, students learn to respond, from simple hand-grabs and learning to yell at young ages, to knife and weapon avoidance at black-belt level.
Fitness
Cardio, stretching and balance are built into every class. Martial arts demands a fitness level all its own.
